We are officially full force into Holy Week! It's a week that holds so much significance in my heart because it is a beautiful reminder of the ultimate act of Love! Each year, I feel as though I’ve experienced Jesus on a greater level and gained a deeper understanding of how much he truly cares for us.
A few weeks ago, I began reading Jesus’ journey before the cross, on the cross, and after his resurrection (Matthew 26-28). I hadn't plan to read these particular scriptures but the timing was perfect. It prepared my heart for Resurrection Sunday, and increased my gratitude for my life and the mercy that has been given to me! Around the time I began reading these scriptures, I was going through a bit of an annoyed stint. It seemed like every person and/or thing literally annoyed me. My patience with people's character traits (that were different from mine) went out the window, and I found myself in a snappy mood with several people that I encountered on a daily. However, when I began to read about the sacrifice that Jesus made for me (and you too!), and how He put his own wants, emotions, and desires aside so that I could be free (spiritually and physically), everything changed. I had a moment where I had to take a step back and think "Is it really worth it?" Should I not give someone else grace when HE gives me grace daily (when I don't deserve it)? Is it worth it to get upset about my nails not being done correctly when it is a blessing to get my nails done at all?
There are so many things that we can allow to cloud our judgment and dim our light. But when you stop and think about the Glory of the Lord and how He gave his life so that we could have a light and life that goes on for eternity, there is no reason for us to not give grace to others. We have so much to be grateful for each and every day because we have a gift of life, love, and an eternal friend. Let's take advantage of that not only this week, but every week afterwards! Go out and give someone else the gift that He has given you! Show them the love that Jesus displayed for us thousands of years ago with His ultimate sacrifice. :)
